We looked at the electromagnetic spectrum. We did this so that we can understand electromagnetic energy. We learned many different things and the results were amazing. I am uncertain of nothing and learned that there are seven layers of electromagnetic radiation. I also learned how a spectra-scope works.

- All light is made up of waves. The red color is longer/shorter frequency waves and the blue color is shorter/higher frequency. So this is the difference between red and blue light.
- Astronemers use the electromagnetic spectrum for different things. Radio waves are used to measure distance and regular light is used to measure composition. Gamma rays are used to measure energy.

We looked at how light travels in waves. We also looked at how red shift works. We did this lab so that we could understand red shift. The results were that we could see red shift. I am uncertain of nothing and learned nothing new.

- Scientists use energy to measure distance and speed.
- The big bang theory is the theory that encompasses the beginning of the universe. Background radiation and the fact that other galaxies are flying away from each other supports the big bang.
1-8-13
A light-year is a measure of distance and scientists use it to describe distances across the universe.
1-9-13
The astronomers classify galaxies into shapes such as spiral, elliptical and irregular shaped galaxies.

Nebulae are composed of gas and are the birth place of stars.
Stars are classified by there light emission and the brighter are class o which are blue. Stars also fuse deuterium and tritium and turn this into hydrogen with an extra neutron and energy.
