Unbalanced Force
If the speed or direction is changed then the force becomes unbalanced.
Station 4
Force- Unbalanced- A force where there is more force pulling in one direction than the other
Balanced- A force where all forces are balanced
Balanced- A force where all forces are balanced
Station 1
The marble took the circular path because the lips were keeping it confined to the space given.
Prediction: It will take the circular path
Right
Analysis:
Prediction: It will take the circular path
Right
Analysis:
- How does the edge of the plate exert a force on the marble? It exerts a force on the marble at the edge and keeps it confined.
- How does this activity model the movement of planets in our solar system? The sun would be the plates and the marble would represent different planets. The gravity would keep the planets in a perpetual orbit.
- How can this model the movement of the moon around the earth? The plate would be the earth and the marble would be the moon.

Station 3
- It falls because the gravity is stronger than the air resistance. So the ball falls.
- 3. The ball is levitating.
- 4. The ball flies of to the right.
Analysis questions:
- What are the forces affecting it?The forces of air resistance and gravity are present.
- Are the two forces balanced? Yes
- What happens when the forces are balanced? The object remains steady either stopped or at a constant rate if it was moving.
- What happens when there is an unbalanced force? The object that the force has been exerted on will accelerate.
